Mexico: Bucerias

Bucerias is a small town 20 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. it is a quiet, relaxing place for a holiday. There is a beautiful clean beach on a bay with great ocean views. Lots of palm trees , and other trees and flowers.

We flew by Delta airlines to Puerta Vallarta. Then for about $25 you can get a taxi to Bucerias. If your really on a budget, walk out to the highway and flag down a taxi for 1/2 the price.

We stayed in Bungalows Los Picos. This is about $800 for a month stay. You have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and front and back patio decks. This way you can catch the breezes one side or the other. The kitchen has open cupboards, fridge and gas stove. A large table which most people carry outside to eat at. The hallway to get to the rooms is very wide and covered over, to make a nice shady place. has fans in all rooms.

There is no restaurant on the premises, but there is a small bar. There are very good restaurants close by which serve up delicious food, for excellent prices. A lot of seafood on the menus.

We spend a lot of time on the beach under the palapas-a shade built out of palm fronds. Peddlers like to come and try to sell you different things like jewelry, clothes,and ironwood. There ironwood is probably some of the best crafted and polished and is very cheap. Don't forget to dicker as the initial price is inflated. Hop a bus and go to some of the small towns north. buses are cheap and run frequently.

There are 2 pools which are kept very clean. A small recreation room for table tennis etc.

For children there is the pools and the beach. Watching birds or the fun of watching to see what the peddlers are selling.
